The Ben Essentials Package is designed for UK-based businesses with 250-750 employees. It provides a cost-effective, low-admin solution with access to enterprise-level benefits typically reserved for larger organisations.

What is pooled risk and how does it benefit my company?

Pooled risk options in workplace benefits refer to insurance or financial arrangements where multiple employers or employees contribute to a shared pool to spread risk and stabilise costs. These are commonly used for benefits such as health insurance, disability insurance, and pension plans.

How it works:

  • Risk sharing: Instead of an individual company bearing all the financial burden, multiple employers (or employees) contribute to a pooled fund. This helps mitigate the impact of high claims from any one participant.
  • Cost stability: By spreading risk across a larger group, premium fluctuations are reduced, making benefits more affordable and predictable.
  • Greater negotiating power: A pooled structure can help smaller employers access better coverage and lower rates, similar to what larger companies might negotiate on their own.
  • Types of benefits: These arrangements are often used in healthcare plans, group life insurance, disability insurance, and pension or retirement plans.
Can I integrate my existing employer-funded benefits into the Ben platform?

Yes, you can host any benefits you already fund within the Ben platform, but Ben will only provide fulfilment for your four foundational insurance benefits (pension, life insurance, income protection and private medical insurance) and any employee-funded benefits selected from Ben’s Marketplace. All other employer-funded benefits will still need to be fulfilled by you or your broker.

This keeps your entire benefits strategy centralised, creates a unified employee experience, and provides self-serve information tiles in the Ben platform.

What insurance benefits are included in the package?

The foundational insurance benefits include pension, life insurance, income protection, and private medical insurance. You can bring your own or choose from selected providers with pooled risk options.

How long does implementation take?

The Essentials Package is designed for fast implementation. The process is streamlined and divided into three key work streams:

  1. Setting up the platform and relevant integrations with HRIS, SSO and providers.
  2. Requirements gathering for your benefits and allowances
  3. Building and Testing

How does invoicing and payment processing work?

The Essentials Package offers consolidated payment processing and invoicing with a Central Master Service Agreement. This simplifies the financial management of your benefits program.

Yes, the Ben platform offers mobile-friendly access to all benefits information, ensuring your employees can view and manage their benefits from anywhere.
