Beyond the buzzwords: The real AI benefits revolution is already here

Discover how AI is already solving real HR headaches - from automated payroll reconciliation to personalised benefits discovery.

AI for benefits

⋅ min read

Let's be honest – if you've attended any HR conference in the last couple of years, you’ll definitely have sat through at least five presentations about AI transforming the workplace. Everyone's talking about it. Everyone's promising it. But here's the real question: when was the last time you saw AI actually fix something that's been driving your team crazy?

We're not here to add to the noise. Instead, we sat down with our product team to show you exactly how intelligent technology is already solving the real-world problems that keep benefits managers up at night. No buzzwords, no hype – just practical solutions that are transforming how global teams manage, deliver, and experience their benefits.

Intelligent payroll reporting: The end of monthly nightmares

Felipe, Product Lead

Reinventing benefits management isn't just about jumping on the latest trend and building a cool feature when there's new tech to play with. It's also about taking a really crucial problem that nobody has managed to solve yet, and finding a way to finally fix it. That's what Ben's being doing from the start - finding ways to solve the really painful issues that HR and benefits managers are facing, such as:

  • Accurately monitoring benefit changes, enrolments, and their charges
  • Understanding when and why certain changes have happened
  • HR teams wasting days each month trying to reconcile changes

Anyone can shout about AI, but if you’re not also taking the time to really understand what your customer’s are struggling with on a daily, weekly, monthly basis in their job, you’re not going to be reinventing anything.

Ben's intelligent payroll reporting is going to be an industry game-changer. No provider in the industry is getting this right yet. So it’s super exciting that we’re building the first intelligent payroll reporting system in the benefits industry, that can:

  • Handle multiple payment cycles simultaneously for both desk-based and on-the-go employees
  • Use proactive AI-powered reviews to spot changes before they become problems - effectively a self-healing payroll report
  • Explain changes in plain language that anyone can understand

But we're not stopping there. Our generative AI is revolutionising how change requests are handled, turning those tedious weeks-long email chains into near-instant updates. That’s what really revolutionary usage of AI looks like - the thing that was causing a monthly nightmare for an HR Manager just… not being an issue anymore.

Personalisation from day one: Instant value for every employee

Holly, Product Marketing Lead

What’s really mind-blowing about benefits is that for employees this should actually be really exciting stuff, but almost nobody realises it. There’s all kinds of value that your employer is offering you - free healthcare, financial support, help planning for your future, mental health and wellness tools. But because it’s often so hard and boring to access, you just don’t bother.

So reinventing benefits to me is really about helping employees actually understand and enjoy their benefits - especially for organisations that have taken the time to get a really nice benefits offering in place. Making it easy for people to access and understand what you’re providing for them is so crucial.

I think the focus on using AI to personalise the benefits experience from day one is going to have an amazing impact for employees. Being able to auto-populate key demographic data from the HRIS means people will immediately see relevant benefits based on their age, location or marital status. And as they add more information to their profile, their suggested benefits will continue to refine and become even more tailored and interesting to them.

What’s really cool is that Ben’s AI can also find and highlight the valuable stuff that’s buried within boring policy documents. As someone who is not good at reading the small print, that’s absolutely game-changing. I’ve probably missed out on loads of great features of benefits over the years because it was on page 67 of a document that I couldn’t access and wouldn’t have read anyway. Ben makes it possible for employees to uncover the stuff that will matter to them quickly and easily.

Smart search: Finding what matters, when it matters

Kevin, Senior Product Designer

The problem with traditional benefits platforms is that they're overwhelming - they bombard employees with every possible option, whether it's relevant to them or not. It's like walking into a huge department store where nothing is organised and you have no idea where to start looking for what you actually need. That's why at Ben we're taking a completely different approach. We're exploring ways to use data and AI to understand what actually matters to each individual employee. Imagine having a personal benefits expert who knows exactly what you're looking for, even if you're not sure how to ask for it.

I'm super excited about reinventing how employees discover and engage with their benefits. Think about how frustrating it is when you're trying to find information about a specific benefit but it’s all scattered in different PDF documents. The smart search that we’re designing completely transforms this experience - you can search based on what you need (’I need an eye test’ or ‘My partner is having a baby’) rather than having to know specific providers and policies.

The AI engine is constantly learning and adapting to provide personalised recommendations based on your life stage and preferences. And because we know benefits aren't just a one-time thing, we're adding multi-channel communications to keep employees informed about relevant benefits any time - whether they’re at their desk or on the go.

Building trust through responsible AI

Patryk, Engineering Lead

When we talk about reinventing benefits, we have to remember that we're dealing with people's livelihoods - their healthcare, their savings, their future. That's why innovation in this space needs to be thoughtful and responsible. Our clients are trusting us with incredibly sensitive data and important decisions that affect their employees' lives. So part of reinventing benefits has to include maintaining incredibly high standards of safety and ethics while still innovating and pushing new boundaries. It's about building trust through transparency and demonstrating that AI can be both revolutionary and responsible.

We're building a framework that ensures every AI feature we deliver is not just powerful, but also safe and trustworthy. This means implementing continuous monitoring systems that validate AI recommendations in real-time and maintaining complete transparency in how decisions are made. We're also creating feedback loops that let us learn from real-world usage and make constant improvements. It's exciting because we're not just building features - we're setting new standards for how AI should be implemented in the benefits industry.

Global scale, local relevance

Carter, Head of Customer Solutions

Most platforms try to solve the complexity of benefits by oversimplifying everything - basically saying ‘here's your standard package, take it or leave it.’ But that completely misses the point of what modern benefits should be. Every employee has their own unique story - maybe you're working remotely and need flexible healthcare options, or you're starting a family and looking for childcare support. That's why we've built our platform differently from the ground up. Instead of running away from that complexity, we've embraced it. We've created an intelligent, modular system that can handle the infinite variety of human needs and circumstances.

What really excites me is how we're delivering true flexibility at a global scale. We're not just talking about a few customisation options - we've built a platform that can handle any benefit, from any provider, in any currency, anywhere in the world. Employees can adjust their coverage as their lives change, and they'll get the same seamless experience whether they're in London, Singapore, or Mexico.

This level of flexibility and global scale hasn't been possible before because the technology simply wasn't there to handle that complexity. But with our AI-powered infrastructure, we can really deliver on the promise of personalised, relevant benefits for everyone.

The future of benefits is here

The transformation of benefits management isn't just about adding new features – it's about fundamentally reimagining how organisations support their workforce. Through intelligent automation, personalisation, and responsible AI implementation, we're making it possible for HR teams to deliver more value with less administrative burden.
